Calvary Chapel Cedar City is an affiliate of Calvary Chapel Association (CCA), which began in Costa Mesa, California in 1965 through the ministry of Pastor Chuck Smith. Calvary Chapels are an affiliation of independent churches worldwide. Our congregation began in 2000 with the calling of Pastor Joe Carroll along with his wife Terri and their four children.  We are committed to expository Bible teaching through the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation and uphold the principle that Christ will build His Church.

Our History

The Lord used Isaiah 42:5-9 to confirm His calling of Pastor Joe Carroll along with his wife and four children to leave Fort Lauderdale, Florida and move to Cedar City, Utah.
Beginning in 1991 as an Associate Pastor of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, Pastor Joe grew in ministry experience and a desire to serve the Lord wherever He wanted.  With a small group of families praying for a Calvary Chapel to be established in Southern Utah, God gave to Pastor Joe a confirmation that moving to Cedar City was the next step in ministry. Taking on jobs, ministering to a small group of believers, and watching their children become adults filled the early church years. Today the church is a vibrant and diverse group who enjoy Bible Study and engaging in the multitude of ministries within the fellowship.

Our Beliefs

SIN NATURE: We believe that all after Adam are born sinners by nature, under eternal condemnation.  The Holy Spirit convicts man and regenerates all who repent of their sins, confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in His resurrection.
JESUS CHRIST: We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ, His miraculous birth, His sinless life, teachings, miracles, and His substitutionary-atoning death on the cross for our sins.  We believe in His literal resurrection and ascension to the Father, and in His literal return to this earth to rule in power and glory.
THE TRINITY: We believe that there is one living and true GOD, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all things.
THE CHURCH: We believe in the Church of Jesus Christ.  He is the head, and all who are regenerated by the Spirit are members of His body, united in the Spirit.
ORDINANCES: We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the church: full-immersion water baptism of believers and the Lord’s Supper.
THE SCRIPTURES:  We believe that the Old & New Testaments, the scriptures, are the Word of God, fully inspired without error and the infallible rule of faith and practice. The Word of God is the foundation upon which the church operates and is governed by. As such, the Word of God supersedes any earthly law that is contrary to the Holy Scriptures.
HEAVEN AND HELL:  We believe in both a literal Heaven and Hell and that all those who place their faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord. Those who reject Jesus’ free gift of salvation will spend eternity separated from the Lord.
THE RAPTURE:  We believe that Jesus Christ will return in the clouds for His church before the tribulation, and that He will return with His saints and holy angels to the earth at the end of the tribulation, establishing His kingdom, ruling and reigning forever and ever.
MARRIAGE: We believe the human race was created as male and female by a direct act of God to fully reveal His image. Marriage is a sacred covenantal union between a man and a woman that limits sexual relations to monogamous, heterosexual marriage.
SOCIETY:  We believe that all human beings are all members of one race (human) and related to each other by sin inherited thru Adam and Eve.  We reject any motives or theology which dictates adherence in the church to Critical Race Theory (CRT) or Wokeness.
